It is our ‘mission’ to introduce as much of the bike park as possible to as many different mtb disciplines as possible.

The Rules
Check yourself in and out of each special stage
Behave in a safe and responsible manner when racing
Stop and help an injured rider, you are considered a travelling marshalGeneral
COURSE CUTTING WILL NOT BE TOLERATED! SEVERE PENALTIES OR DISQUALIFICATION AT RACE DIRECTORS DISCRETION.
You can practice the course on Saturday and Sunday, as the bike park is open to all riders, with restrictions for the DH & XC races.
There is camping on site.
Riders must make their way unassisted to each special stage.
There are prizes for the top 3 riders in each category for each event.
The ’Rostrevor MTB Festival Enduro Champ’ Title goes to the fastest Irish rider in each category, awarded with a trophy.

Categories… Junior 14-18, Sport men 19-29, Senior men 19-29, Elite men 19-29, Master men30-39, Veteran men 40+, Ladies.

Timings, Registration & License
On registering, you agree to the rules of the event.
Entry may not be taken on the day of the event.
Registration closes at 12.00 am on the morning of the event.
You can start the event in any order between 9.00hrs and 11.00hrs; you could ride together with a group of your pals for example.

First stage opens @ 10.00am & last stage closes @ 3.00pm.

Presentation at 16.30hrs approx.
Entries are non refundable less than two weeks from the event. If you are unable to compete for medical reasons we will refund you on receipt of a doctors note. It is also not possible to transfer entries to any other events, next year’s event, or a different competitor.
You must present your Cycling Ireland licence (British Cycling Licence or similar) at registration or purchase a general one day licence at a cost of €20 / £18.

We would expect a Cycling Ireland ‘day licence’ or ‘event licence’ taken out for either the XC or DH events, to cover the Enduro event AS WELL, all as part of the Rostrevor MTB Festival 2013.
Entries fees are £30 for all categories. (plus SI Entries on-line registration fee)Bikes
You cannot change your bike for individual special stages, you must use the same bike for an individual event.
Bikes will be marked at registration and checked on completion of the event.
Different bikes can be used for different events.
In the case of mechanical failure, parts such as wheels, tires, saddles, forks, etc can be changed if needs be but extra time is not provided for this.
All bikes must have bar plugs.
Bikes must be in perfect working order.
Competitors may not modify race number plates.
The race director has the right to deny entry to the event they feel a bike is not of a suitable standard.

Personal Equipment
You must wear a helmet (open xc type OR full face dh type) at all times, including transition sections.
Competitors found not wearing a helmet shall be disqualified immediately.
Gloves, knee and elbow protection are recommended but not compulsory.
Each competitor must be completely self-sufficient and cannot get external assistance for the duration of the race except in the car park area.

Highly Recommended Kit
Mobile phone
Basic first aid kit (Minimum: 1 x Dressing Pad for heavy bleeding (field dressing); bandage, plasters)
Survival bag or foil blanket
Energy food and drink
Wind/ Waterproof Top (weather permitting )
Bike repair kit (tube, pump or CO2 canisters, allen keys, chain tool)
It is advised that you use a small rucksack or suitable bag to carry above items. You may also secure items to your bike.

The Course
The route is 16k long and takes approximately 2.5hrs.
Details of the course will not be made known before the event.
Gravity Enduro is not a cross country or downhill competition. It takes place on a circuit marked with a variable number of mostly moderate downhill special stages.
There are 5 special stages in this event, with transfer stages in between.
Transfer stages are not timed and do not count for the overall standing.
Riders must check themselves in and out of each special stage by holding their timing chip/card against the transponder.
Riders must complete the special stages in ascending order, Stage 1 followed by Stage 2 etc.
The special stages are designed to suit a mid travel trail bike, not specific xc or dh bikes.
This course is marked with signs, and some sections double taped, others you have to follow the trail.
If a competitor exits the special stage course, they must re-enter the same point and restore the tape as they found it.
If a rider is found to be cutting a special stage course they will be disqualified.
If three or more riders report another rider cutting a special stage course, they will be disqualified.
The route may have narrow sections and exposed rocks, steep climbs and descents and is not suitable for untrained or beginner riders.

Timing
In the morning of the race, after bike scrutineering each rider receives a timing chip which can be worn on either wrist.
Riders can start as soon as they reach the beginning of the special stage, there are no start times or running order.

You can start the event in any order between 9.00hrs and 11.00hrs; you could ride together with a group of your pals for example.

First stage opens @ 10.00am & last stage closes @ 3.00pm.

Presentation at 16.30hrs approx.
There will be minimum 30 second time intervals between riders starting a special stage or more depending on the nature of the track.
If a faster rider is behind you on a special stage, be polite and allow them to pass. If you are the faster rider, be patient, give lots of warming and clear directions as to what side you will pass. For example; shout left, if you intend to pass on the left hand side of the rider in front.
If you are obstructed by another rider or stop to help an injured rider you may repeat the stage. You must first check out of the stage, then cycle back up the hill without assistance in this case.
If, while passing a slower rider, you cause them to crash or run off the course, you may be disqualified.
You may NOT repeat the stage if you suffer a mechanical failure on course.
Riders who retire must return to the car park as soon as possible following the instructions of race marshals
They must also remove their number plate from the bike or cross it with an X.
The ranking of each competitor is the sum of the special stage times, plus any time penalties.Emergencies
It is the duty of each competitor to assist any competitor who appears to be injured or in difficulty and possibly alert the race director, via special stage marshal or mobile phone.
The race director reserves the right to penalize or disqualify competitors that do not meet this standard.
Competitors who withdraw from the event must notify the race office as soon as possible.
Competitors must adhere to the rules of the event and the rules of the road, particularly during sections on public roads.

Complaints
Complaints regarding the conduct of the event, rankings or the behaviour of other competitors and any other type of report must be submitted to the race director, written and signed by the competitor no later than 30 minutes after the podium presentation. The cost of the claim is € 50 which will be returned only in case of acceptance of the complaint. The race director shall communicate their decision within 60 minutes after the submission of that claim unless further investigation is required.

Insurance
Gravity Enduro events are held under Cycling Ireland event regulations and as such all participants must be members of Cycling Ireland. The Gravity Enduro organisers shall not be held liable in any way for any loss, damage or accidents that may occur during any Gravity Enduro competition, on the same track either before or after an event.

XMTB Spring MTB Series

XMTB McConvey Cycles are hosting a series of 3 mountain bike races aimed primarily at the youth riders from the Under 8s up to the Under 16s starting on Sunday 19 February 2011. The over 16′s are not being left out as the club will have a Senior race for all levels of competitive cyclists from the Introductory “Sports” rider to the top end Elite riders. The venue will be Ormeau Park in Belfast which the club used for running a similar series in 2011. The club wish to thank their ongoing support from Belfast City Council.

Round 1 – Sunday 19 February 2012
Round 2 – Sunday 26 February 2012
Round 3 – Sunday 4 March 2012 (Series Prize Giving)

Pre-registration
Pre-registration is now open. Closes on Friday 17 February 2012 at 8 pm.

Laptop timing will be provided for the senior race. All riders are encouraged to pre-register to greatly help with the administration on the day.

For the senior riders the incentive to pre-register will be a £5 discount on the race entry free.

Sign on will open on the day at 10:00. Sign on closes 15 minutes before the start of each race.

Race insurance
In order to take part in off-road racing riders need to have membership and insurance through our governing body, Cycling Ireland. Riders can take out an annual licence (either a Full Competition or Restricted competition) which will cover him/her for all off-road events.

Day licenses will be available to purchase on race day, the cost of a day licence will be £18 (€20) for those aged 16+.
Day licences for those aged 15 or 16 will be £9 (€10).
Youth riders (Under 14s) are encouraged to take out an annual licence as it costs the same as a day licence (£5).

Prizes
McConvey cycles have very generously put up a new mountain bike as the big prize for the series. It is a 2012 Specialised Hardrock Disc.

The winner will be drawn by raffle ticket after the last round on Sunday 4 March 2011. Riders will receive 1, 2 or 3 raffle tickets depending on how many events they have entered. Ballots will be drawn after refreshments are served.

NOTE: Prizes will only be given out to those present at the prize giving ceremony.
There will be other spot prizes given out on that date as well.

New club members for 2012 season

Hi guys. Anyone looking to join one of the best MTB clubs in the north, please fill out the contact us form and one of the members will let back to you as soon as possible.

We are currently looking for more active members to help wear our jerseys at the races as well as help out at up and coming events.

2012 is promising to be a great year for everything MTB related. From the all new Enduro Gravtiy events, XC races, the newly revamped IDMS and our own club spins. We normally have at least one or more members at nearly each race or event.

2011 proved to be a great new start for the club with various members of the club taking home prises at nearly every event we took part in as well as the club being rewarded for putting on the best DH race of the 2011 season.

Feel free to speak to any of the guys at any of the up and coming events or when we are out on the trails (you will not miss us as we have the best looking club jerseys in the world). We are all down to earth guys and don’t bite.

Looking forward to seeing some new faces in the club.
